A Trip for Families and First-Timers

There is nothing quite like standing on Masada, or swimming in the Dead
Sea or walking through the archeological tunnels under the Western Wall.
There is nothing quite like seeing the stones of Jerusalem turn to gold as
the sun goes down, or sensing the world from atop Golan Heights or from underneath
the waterfalls of Ein Gedi where King David himself once bathed.
To begin to know Israel one must go to Israel. To make Israel a fundamental
element of one’s spiritual life and identity one must remember Woody
Allen’s ancient command that “80% of life is just showing up.”
We’ve assembled a trip for families and first-timers with the travel
company we worked with for our first Temple Sinai trip to Israel three years
ago, a company with a great reputation that does most of its work with Reform
Synagogues, ARZA Travel. They know us and we know them. Here are some of
our trip’s highlights.
- Visit the Old City of Jaffa and stroll through the renovated artists’ colony
and the ancient port
- Experience a Jeep tour climbing to the Golan Heights in the footsteps
of IDF soldiers and their battles
- Visit the award winning Golan Winery, located in the Golan Heights, which
is known as Israel’s first world class winery
- Explore Safed, a center of Jewish mysticism for hundreds of years, and
a contemporary artists’ colony
- Plant a tree at the JNF Forest near the Golani Junction
- Go to Beit Shean National Park, one of the largest archaeological sites
in Israel
The trip offers several “breakouts” for young people and quieter
options for individuals as needed. All accommodations are four star and our
flights are direct with El Al. The land and air cost for adults is $3597, the
land cost (without air) is $2874.
Those who have been to Israel will undoubtedly join with me in telling you
the same thing: you gotta go! For openers please take a look at the itinerary
at arzaworld.com.
