It has been an extremely busy time for the youth of Temple Sinai. Jr. Sosty has scheduled its second event for the year (Havdallah and a shul-in) and has begun planning for it! Jr. Sosty has also started a drive to collect canned soda tabs, to be recycled in an incredible way. 300,000 of these tabs together can be melted down to make 1 wheelchair. Jr. SoSTY’s goal is to collect as many as possible to donate for this purpose! Mitzvah Corps is also moving into full swing. The students have chosen to work on a variety of local and international social action projects this year, including: Habitat for Humanity, Midnight Run, and Invisible Children to name a few. To supplement those projects we will also be collecting canned food, cold weather clothing and school supplies this year. You can come see our Mitzvah Corps members in action at Temple Sinai’s Purim Carnival, on March 23rd, as they will be tabling during the carnival and holding raffles and distributing literature! This brings us to the biggest event that SoSTY is planning this year. The Purim Carnival will feature some new and exciting things. SoSTY has had T-shirts made to commemorate the event, which will be available to purchase or given away free to those who buy the wristband for $20. There will also be a T-shirt decorating booth this year so that students may personalize theirs, and have something special to remember the Purim of 5768. We will also have an inflatable castle, raffles, games, tons of prizes and refreshments! This year’s Purim Carnival promises to be spectacular thanks to SoSTY’s hard work. We look forward to seeing everybody there! L’Shalom, |
