Sisterhood is the organization of the women of the congregation who band together in friendship for programs to benefit the Temple and the community, for social activities, for study, and, above all, for the growth of the individual so that each may find an opportunity to fulfill her potential as a person and as a Jewish woman. Sisterhood provides an arena for the individual to expand and grow in a Jewish atmosphere.
Make Time for Tzedakah: Charity. A portion of dues goes directly to YES Fund (Youth, Education and Special Projects) of Women of Reform Judaism, our parent organization, which helps to support rabbinical students, high school and college youth programs, special projects in Israel and the Jewish Braille Institute. Our Sisterhood social action efforts include financial support of our religious school, Mitzvah Day, community-wide Senior Citizens' luncheon, St. Luke's Lifeworks, and the Council of Churches.
Make Time for Tefillah: Prayer. Sisterhood encourages a focus on spirituality through programs such as the congregational Yom Kippur break fast, the annual Sisterhood Shabbat service in the Spring, and Support of the Shabbat dinners throughout the year.
Make Time for Kehilah: Community. Sisterhood offers many ways to return to the Temple, Jewish life and friendships with one another. Whether it is our annual Progressive Dinner, Passover Tasteria or guest speakers, we provide opportunities for education, enrichment and personal growth. Fund raising events include Barnes & Noble Holiday Gift Wrapping, Temple Sinai Gift Shop, bima baskets and various events such as tag sales.
