Chavurah Program

Third - Seventh Grade Family Chavurah Program for 2012-2013


This program meets three times each year for the 3rd through 7th grade families. The goal of the Chavurah program is to build community within our Temple family, as well as for parents and children to spend some time together learning about ethics, values and other Jewish topics. The Chavurah program is led by Melissa Cohavi. All Chavurah programs begin at 9:00am unless otherwise noted, and the dates for this year are:

THIRD GRADE

October 14, 2012: Trip to the Beardsley Zoo - Scavenger Hunt for Animals and Birds in the Bible

December 16, 2012: Indiana Ike and the House of Jewish Treasure

April 28, 2013: Planting Flowers at Scofield Manor Residence


FOURTH GRADE

October 21, 2012: Israel Map and games

January 13, 2013: Raising a Mensch

March 24, 2013: 4th Grade Wedding


FIFTH GRADE

November 4, 2012: The Living Museum Project:  A Trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage

December 2, 2012: The fifth commandment:  Honor thy Father and Mother

March 10, 2013: Creating your own Jewish community/What is a Jewish Community?/What does community mean to you?

 

SIXTH GRADE

October 28, 2012: Living Voices:  Anne Frank

February 10, 2013: Kiddush Cup Project with Avi Zuckerman

March 17, 2013: Jewish identity buffet and film, “the tribe”¯ and Bob's Leviticus 19 presentations

 

SEVENTH GRADE

November 4, 2012: B'nai Mitzvah Family Education

January 27, 2013: Centropa program

March 17, 2013: Trip to the Lower East Side
