Outdoor and Zoom Shabbat Service

Friday, July 24, 2020 3 Av 5780

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Below are the guidelines we’ll be following to ensure the most responsible event possible considering the current practices of social distancing. Bear in mind, we have made one minor change since last month – we have decided to allow singing while masked.

We have presented them in the form of Ten Commandments for this very moment:

1. Thou Shalt register for attendance and resist the urge to attend if you were not able to get a “seat” in this service – you will have the first chance to register for the next one – we will only accept registrations from the first 25 member units of the congregation to limit the group size. (A waitlist will be created for cancellations and will receive first preference at subsequent services.)
2. Thou Shalt agree to wear a face mask at all times while in attendance
3. Thou Shalt sing aloud during the service as long as you are masked
4. Thou Shalt agree to adhere to the rules of social distancing from others – 6’ minimum, more if feasible. Staying in your assigned space and using your own lawn chairs – we cannot provide them
5. Thou Shalt agree to stay home if you are sick, experiencing any symptoms consistent with the coronavirus, or are otherwise required to be quarantined
6. Thou Shalt not expect the ability to enter the building for any reason (including the use of bathrooms)
7. Thou Shalt not judge others for their choices about attendance
8. Thou shalt recognize that we intend our worship to nourish the spirit, but it cannot vaccinate the body; if you are not at peace with the health implications of communal worship for yourself or your loved ones at this time, your duty is to wait until you can join others without anxiety
9. Thou shalt respect that our clergy, their families, and our volunteers have the same wish for health and safety as you do, and shalt treat their needs for social distancing as important as your own
10. Thou Shalt try to put aside the distractions and concerns of these exceptional times and find that place of שלום שבת - Shabbat Shalom/Shabbat Peace from which to contribute to the positive energy we plan to create together. We ask that those who have a reservation arrive 10-15 minutes before the service is to begin to allow everyone to be in place at the time to start.

Once you’ve been greeted by our volunteer at the check-in table, we ask that you sanitize your hands using the provided hand sanitizer. Please remember to keep your mask on at all times. Please note that restrooms will be unavailable at any time before, during or after the service.

Once you’ve been checked in, please follow the volunteer who will lead you to your seating area. During the service we ask that you please remain in your designated seating area.

In the event that we have to cancel the in-person service for any reason, we will send you an email to this address by noon on Friday.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns.
