Are we right for you?

End of Life

Temple Sinai clergy and staff are here to help your family at these difficult and sensitive times.  We believe that the Jewish traditions surrounding death are extremely helpful and will walk through the process one step at a time.  If you are unfamiliar with the traditions, we can help you with information about the funeral, mourning traditions, shiva, unveilings and yarzeits.

Rabbi TelRav and Cantor Morgovsky are also here for congregants when they (or a family member) are nearing the end of life, as well. Hospital visits and home visits from our clergy are a phone call away. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

What to do when there is a death:

Call Rabbi TelRav immediately at (203) 322-1649.  If it is after business hours, call our emergency answering service at 1-800-498-4205 and then send him an email at ravtelrav@templesinaistamford.org.  He will return your call ASAP.

Our Clergy will:

Help guide you during this very difficult time
Offer grief counseling to the family
Meet with the family to create a service that honors the memory of your loved one and reflects your needs
Coordinate and lead shiva services in the mourners’ home

Our Staff will:

Help the family purchase a burial plot in the Temple Sinai section of Fairfield Memorial Cemetery
Send a notice to the Temple Sinai membership informing them of your loss
Record the deceased’s name on Temple Sinai’s Kaddish and Yizkor lists
Send you a yartzeit notice every year when your loved one’s name will be said at services.

If you have additional names of loved ones to add to our system in order to receive yartzeit notices and have their names read at services, log in to our system with the button at the top and you'll find the correct form under your account tab.  If you need yartzeit candles for your observances, we have them for you.  Please accept that gift and simply stop in to the Temple office to pick them up.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email Rabbi TelRav.
