Calling all Couch Potatoes: Netflix Original Series – Shtisel
Perhaps you’re hearing about it for the first time now or maybe you’ve already binge-watched the entire series but we’re going to share in the joy that is the Netflix Original Series – Shtisel. Television-length episodes follow the lives of an extended family in the most religiously observant neighborhoods of Jerusalem. Along with great writing, acting and drama, it provides a stunningly accurate glimpse into the world of the ultra-Orthodox that the rest of us rarely get and will be good fodder for discussion about the various ways a Jewish family can express its religious needs. Bring coffee or tea; we’ll bring popcorn and snacks.

Intro to Judaism
Considering choosing Judaism? Perhaps you are new to the faith? Jewish, but want to refresh your memory and dive deeper into our rich traditions? Then Intro to Judaism is the perfect class for you. Together we’ll explore our history, and learn about Torah and our holy books. We’ll take a look at synagogue life and the structure of the prayer services. We’ll spend time learning about the Jewish holidays and Jewish life cycle events. Plus, there will be sessions on current events, Israel, and even time to “ask the rabbi and cantor.” The class will culminate with a celebratory Havdalah experience. Please contact Cantor Micah (cantormicah@templesinaistamford.org) with any questions. FEE: $180 MEMBER, $360 NON-MEMBER.
